WRAZ-TV

Overview
FOX 50WRAZ-TV/FOX 50 is dedicated to entertaining the public with its many FOX network sitcoms, dramas, movies and sporting events. In 2004, FOX 50 forayed into local entertainment production with "Gimme the Mike," a showcase for local singers to compete on TV and to win valuable prizes. Frequently a winner of promotion awards such as the Promax Medallions and Southeast Emmy Awards, FOX 50 boasts one of the best creative departments in the state.

The FOX 50 audience mirrors the young, upscale demographics of the Raleigh-Durham area. In addition to today's most popular entertainment programs, FOX 50 also carries Major League Baseball, NASCAR and the 2003 NFC Champions, the Carolina Panthers Football.

WRAZ-TV takes advantage of its relationship with sister station WRAL-TV, sharing newscasts, reporters and meteorologists. The synthesis has paid off as FOX 50 consistently pulls big ratings and remains the #1 local prime-time newscast, seven days a week at 10pm.

History
Capitol Broadcasting Company first ran WRAZ-TV as an LMA in December of 1994. Originally a WB affiliate, WRAZ switched its affiliation to FOX in 1998 and moved its offices from WRAL-TV’s studios in Raleigh to its own location at the Diamond View Building in downtown Durham. CBC bought the station in April of 2000.
