Duke Children's Hospital Radiothon

For 101.5 hours (4.5 days) each spring/summer the on-air crew of WRAL-FM hold a radiothon for Duke Children's Hospital. The "Bill & Sheri in the Morning" staff, led by long-time air personality Bill Jordan and co-host Sheri Logan, camp out in the studio encouraging listeners to call in pledges to help the kids at Duke.

Musical montages and live stories from parents and children who have been at the hospital, doctors and nurses from the children's ward and Duke celebrities such as Men's Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski fill the airwaves as hourly and daily challenges keep listeners pledging. Volunteers and members of the CBC staff man the phone banks; over 400 volunteers take pledges each year.
The event culminates with a check presentation on the Duke Children's Miracle Network Telethon, held on MIX 101.5's sister station WRAL-TV5. Millions of dollars have been raised through the radiothon to help support the children of Duke.
