Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle:
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle (BBBST) is a donor and volunteer supported mentoring organization which positively impacts the lives of children in the Triangle community.

Their mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with measurable impact. BBBST accomplishes this goal through the establishment of long-lasting and one-to-one mentoring relationships utilizing targeted programs to address the needs of the children.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the TriangleBig Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States. They have been the leader in one-to-one youth service for more than a century, developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people. Big Brothers Big Sisters serves children, ages 6 through 14, in communities across the country - including ours right here in the Triangle.

Bigs and Littles have fun together — and create memories that last a lifetime. BBBST calls it “Little moments … Big magic.” Research points to the powerful, positive, lasting impact Bigs have on children’s lives. Littles are:

  • 52% less likely to skip school
  • 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
  • More likely to get along with their families and peers

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the TriangleVOLUNTEER

Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable things you will ever do. It's easy, too. Your Little can join you for the kinds of activities you already like to do, such as:

  • Shooting hoops
  • Playing a board game
  • Sharing a pizza
  • Taking a walk in the park
  • Or just hanging out and talking.

Just 8 hours a month can change a young person's life. Find out more about volunteering here.
