5 Member Remembered With Dedication |

Jared Meyers
|
A former WRAL Post
5 member will be remembered this weekend. Jared Meyers died tragically
in a car accident a few years ago and now a computer center will be dedicated
in his memory at the Longview Center in downtown Raleigh.
"Jared was the first
person to my knowledge who successfully underwent training in our post
with a 'learning disability'," said WRAL-TV Director/Producer Clarence
Williams. "He went on to complete two years of education at NCSU in broadcasting
before his untimely death."
The Jared A. Meyers
Computer Technology Center will be dedicated at a ceremony on Saturday,
May 15, 2004, from 10am to noon at the Center. Donations may be sent to:
DDSP, c/o Jared A. Meyers Memorial Fund, 118. S. Person Street, Raleigh,
NC 27601.
"I
learned a lesson about not pre-judging a person's ability or drive" -
Clarence Williams
WRAL-TV's Clarence Williams wrote this memorial
to honor Meyers.

Explorer
Post 5
Post 5 operated as a Learning For Life career exploration program
under the Occoneechee Council - Boy Scouts of America. This Post
started in 1975 as an all-male Explorer unit. It has transitioned
to what is now called the co-educational, Learning For Life program.
It is designed to introduce student between the ages of 14 thru

is the longest continuously chartered post in the country.
A number of

Members of the TV staff serve as advisors. Past senior advisors
on staff include Armstrong, Baker, Williams, Adkins, News Photographer
