WRAL-TV's Multicasting NCAA Coverage Could Be Interrupted By War

As has now become an annual occurrence, WRAL-TV plans to multi-cast all NCAA regional games on its alternate digital channels. This year the station also plans to broadcast the HD version of available regional games on sister-station WRAZ-TV's digital channel. Because of the onset of war with Iraq, this plan may change without notice.

Should CBS revert to war coverage, pre-empting other television programs or basketball games, WRAL-TV's multi-casting will cease at that time. CBS has entered into a special deal with ESPN. If CBS goes to war coverage, ESPN will pick up the games in progress. Due to that agreement, WRAL-TV would be obligated to cease all multi-casts of the NCAA games at that time.
