Christmas cheer filled the air at the WRAL-TV studios on Monday, December 2, 2002. Onlookers braved the chilly air and gathered by the fountain to witness the annual lighting of the WRAL-TV tower, turning the structure into a giant Christmas tree. The Carolina Harmony Chorus provided music for the crowd, as well as for WRAL-TV viewers around the Triangle. The 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00pm newscasts included music from the choir, and WRAL-TV Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel flipped the switch on the tower at 5:55pm. The live crowd helped with the countdown. The tower will remain lighted through the new year and can be seen for miles around. |
