Post-season play ended for the Pelicans with a 5-4 loss to the Kinston Indians on Thursday, September 5, 2002, at Coastal Federal Field in Myrtle Beach. The Indians took the first two games in the best-of-three series. Now Kinston is facing the Lynchburg Hillcats for the Mills Cup Championship. Their first season under Manager Randy Ingle, the Pelicans won the first half of the 2002 season and had a winning record for the second half. Ever since the club's inception four years ago, the Pelicans have won at least 70 games in each season. |
