This makes the third
consecutive season CBS has broadcast a majority of its primetime schedule
in HD, and the first time the network has offered all of its scripted
entertainment series in HD. This fall CBS will average almost 24 hours
of HD programming per week.
A number of CBS Sunday
Movies will also be produced and broadcast in HD. Previously CBS announced
that it will broadcast a substantial number of college football games
in HD this fall. The network has already produced the 2001 U.S. Open Tennis
Championships in HD. Major sporting events will be broadcast in HD on
CBS every weekend from early September through the first week of December.
WRAL-TV carries all
CBS HD programming on its digital channel WRAL-DT, Channel 53, (Time Warner
digital cable channel 255).
