Sports Marketing Sells Out New Carter-Finley Stadium Scoreboard |
Season tickets aren't
the only thing sold out in Carter-Finley Stadium for the 2001 NC State
football season. All 22 ad positions on the Wolfpack's new state of the
art $2.3 million scoreboard were sold before fall practices began in August.
Sales for the scoreboard advertising were handled by Wolfpack Sports Marketing,
a part of CBC's Capitol Sports division.

"Given the economic
conditions during this sales period it's a great statement for the
excitement building for Coach Amato and the Wolfpack football team.
It's also a credit to our sales staff for the hard work they invested
to not only reach the revenue goals established for this project,
but to sell out the inventory over a 90-day period," said Jerry
Reckerd, Wolfpack Sports Marketing's General Manager.
The new scoreboard
system, the largest of its kind on any North Carolina college or
university campus features a oversized 24' x 32' video screen that
ranks among the finest in the country. With the system's unique
placement between Carter-Finley Stadium and the Entertainment and
Sports Arena, it will deliver more than just the NC State audience.
Year-round exposures for advertisers on both sides of the system
are expected to top 2.5 million

The
scoreboard made its debut on Opening Night for the NC State vs.
Indiana game on Sept. 6th.

impressions, and be seen
by fans attending Wolfpack sporting events, Hurricanes and Cobras games,
concerts, and many other special events at the entertainment and sports
complex.
"With a project of
this size and scope, it was important for our advertisers to see how this
system would help them attain their marketing goals in the greater Triangle
market" said Reckerd. To achieve this, the Wolfpack Sports Marketing staff
called upon local animator Flying Foto Factory to develop a digital 3-D
reproduction of the scoreboard. This unique sales package enabled sponsors
to see the impact of their advertising message from within the stadium
and from around the Entertainment and Sports Arena parking lots. According
to Reckerd, "The digital representations were the exclamation point for
many of our prospects."
