Beach 2001 Coaching Staff Named |
The Single-A Myrtle
Beach Pelicans have announced their coaching line-up for the 2001 season.
In keeping with the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," the
Pelicans' major league affiliate the Atlanta Braves called back Brian
Snitker to manage the Pelicans for a third season, along with pitching
coach Bruce Dal Canton. Mike Graus will return as trainer for a third
season as well. Coach Tommy Gregg will be the only new face among the
four minor league staff positions.

Snitker,
with the Pelicans since their inception in 1999, lead the Myrtle Beach
team to a share in the league championship in its first year in the
Carolina league, and the sole owner of the same championship in the
2000 season. At the end of this past season, he was named the Carolina
League's Manager of the Year; he is also a two-time Braves' Minor
League Manager of the Year. The 2001 season will be his 25th with

organization. Snitker has managed in the minor leagues for the Braves
since 1982, with a two-year stint coaching the Atlanta Braves bullpen
from 1988-1990. Previous to his coaching career, Snitker played catcher
for the Braves for four seasons. |
