Retired CBC executive Ben Waters received the Human Service Award from the Garner Road YMCA at the organiztions 56th Annual Meeting and Award Banquet on Friday, May 25th. The YMCA recognized Waters for his "long and dedicated commitment to the Garner Road Family YMCA."

The event, held at the McKimmon Center on the NC State campus, began with a business meeting and installation of new board members and officers. After the dinner, Kilpatrick Stockton attorney Allyson K. Duncan provided a keynote address focusing on the importance of teaching and the struggles of African Americans.

Judge Michael R. Morgan presented the awards to the evening's honorees. Thirteen people received awards, including Waters and US Olympian Marion Jones who received the Personal Achievement Award.
