Paul Pope Receives Media Award

Carol Hunter presented the award to Paul Pope.	The Board of Directors of African American Cultural Complex (AACC) unanimously chose CBC VP of Community Relations Paul Pope to receive their "2001 Media Award." The AACC presented the award during their Annual Commemorative Banquet on Saturday, February 17 at 4:00pm in the auditorium of the NC Association of Educators Building in downtown Raleigh.

AACC PR Director Carol Hunter made the presentation. Pope was chosen because, "He has paved the way by being the first African American to attain many positions in NC's broadcasting arena, including being the first African American Station Manager in the history of Capitol Broadcasting."

Paul Pope received the "Media Award" from the AACC for his pioneering work in broadcasting.

The awards honor individuals that have made outstanding contributions towards the advancement of the African American community. They are given in the areas of Community Service, Education, Media & Humanitarianism.

The African American Cultural Complex is a unique collection of artifacts, documents and displays of outstanding contributions made by African Americans and is housed in several buildings along a picturesque nature trail.
