The Durham Bulls
hosted 114 kids for one of their popular summer baseball camps on
June 19-21. The first of three camps this season, Bulls Manager
Bill Evers teamed up with fellow Bulls coaches and players to teach
the group of 7-14 year olds about the game.
The children
attended the camp from 9:00am-2:00pm each day, learning skills such
as hitting, running and pitching in the morning and putting those
lessons to work in actual games in the afternoons. They enjoyed
a bag lunch everyday and got a break at 1:40pm each afternoon to
go to dugouts for autographs from the Durham Bulls.
"Kids really
enjoy it. They love every second it," said Bulls Administrative
Asst. Libby Hamilton. "It's a big deal to them to be on the field
with coaches & players." The Bulls players and coaches themselves
help the kids learn new skills and hone the ones they already have.
On the last
day of camp, the staff presented a Most Valuable Player Award, a
Hustle Award and a Team Spirit Award for each age group. Every kid
received camp t-shirt and other Bulls
