Scott Wingo, introduced by Browder, is just one example of the new breed of high-tech company being started in the area. Since earning his masters from NC State in 1991, Wingo co-founded Stingray Software and then sold it for about 21 million dollars. In 1999, he started up AuctionRover, an auction services web site. He built partnerships with Yahoo and Ebay. Then eight months later, GoTo.com announced it was acquiring his company for 3.47 million shares. That's the equivalent of about 200 million dollars. At only 31 years old, he's a fascinating high tech success story and a real inspiration to us all.
